ITANAGAR, Nov 11 Terming the attack on the newspaper office and its Associate Editor Tapan Kumar Das as cowardice reflecting non-accommodative and undemocratic spirit, the Arunachal Chamber of Commerce & Industries (ACCI) yesterday called for a level playing field for the media to function independently.
The repeated attacks and intimidation of the media establishments and persons deserve condemnation from all quarters and the State Government should take stringent action to bring an end to disturbance in public order, the statement said.
If this tribal society desires to prosper and grow, it has to respect the media and facilitate its unbiased functioning without any coercion for it to keep a tab on the three pillars of democracy the executive, the legislature and the judiciary, stated ACCI general secretary Tarh Nachung, in a release.
