GUWAHATI, Nov 19 � �The idea of a �supra-State� is counterproductive and it is not supported by Indian federal structure. Even the people of Nagaland would not get any benefit from this,� said national organizational secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Sunil Ambekar while talking to the media today.
Ambekar was in the city to review the preparations for the �Maha Dharna� against corruption, being organized in all the State capitals by the ABVP on November 30, December 1 and December 2.
�If a State or its people are less developed than other States, adequate steps to ensure their development is a must. Earlier also development councils have been formed within the State to give some benefits to the disadvantageous section of people. But it is not practical to have a supra State setup, with jurisdiction over more than one States,� he added. He also appealed to the people of Nagaland to reject this idea.
Asking the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to resign from his post owing to large-scale corruption during the Congress regime, he called upon the common people to strengthen the movement against corruption.
�We believe that the Prime Minister already knew about the scams, and he does not have any right to continue on his post if he cannot find out and punish the guilty. On November 23, we are organizing demonstrations in Chennai against P Chidambaram�s involvement in the 2G Spectrum scam,� he added.
On the issue of black money, he said that all the money stashed away in the foreign banks should be declared as national property. �We completely reject the Prime Minister�s proposal to give some incentive to the black money holders for bringing the money back to India,� he added.
He also said that the circulation of notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 should be completely stopped and notes of smaller denominations should be popularized.
�To check corruption in politics, the complete management and expenditure of the elections should be done by the Election Commission and compulsory voting system should be introduced,� said Ambekar.
However, rejecting the idea of right to recall, he said that for such a big democracy like India, the idea is not practical.
