ABSU takes out torch light rally

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 20 - The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) took out a torch light rally here recently demanding immediate solution of long pending demands of Bodoland State and to ensure the political rights of Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland area etc.

The rally was organised jointly by the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) and Peoples Joint Action Committee for Bodoland Movement (PJACBM).

A good number of ABSU and PJACBM supporters joined the rally with different posters and banners which started from Pragati Bhaban and ended at Kokrajhar anchalik committee office of ABSU.

Lawrance Islary general secretary of ABSU and Gorjan Mushahary, deputy chief convenor of PJACBM today also announced a series of agitational programmes like maha rally, dharna and hunger strike in Delhi during the Winter Session of Parliament in December and 24 hours National Highway and railway blocked in January next year. They also threatened indefinite mass hunger strike in March next if Government fails to solve their demands as early as possible.

The movement will continue until and unless the Government of India concedes our demands, both the leaders said. They also appealed the Government of India to come forward with a pragmatic policy decision on the Bodoland issue.
