ABSU hunger strike enters second day

KOKRAJHAR, March 11 - The indefinite hunger strike by the All Bodo Students� Union (ABSU) and its affiliated groups like People�s Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement and the National Democratic Front of Boroland-Progressive demanding early solution to the demand for creation of Bodoland State and ensure political rights of the Bodos living outside the proposed �Bodoland� area entered the second day today.

Due to inclement weather since early morning today, the protesters were compelled to change their venue from FCI godown to Kokrajhar Govt. HS&MP School playground. The health condition of many leaders, activists and supporters deteriorated due to fasting.

Meanwhile, a sizeable section of public joined the fast by ignoring the rains. The local masses have been taking part in the hunger strike every day in a show of solidarity as medical staff are on stand-by mode to check any eventuality.

It may be pertinent to mention here that ABSU president Pramod Boro, Dhiren Boro, chairman of NDFB(P) and Rakesh Boro, chief convenor of PJACBM, including other members of the organisations besides 1,111 members, where 17 women are also participating in the indefinite hunger strike.
