ABSU appeals for vote in favour of UPPL

By Correspondent

KOKRAJHAR, Nov 6 - The All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) on Friday appealed to people to vote for the UPPL this time for peace, development, good governance and for time-bound BTR Accord implementation.

ABSU president Dipen Boro at a press meet held at the Bodofa House at Bagansali in Kokrajhar, said that ABSU has been supporting the UPPL only to bring about peace, faster development and political change in favour of BTR Accord implementation.

Boro said that since the signing of the Bodo Accord, the ABSU has been working for its implementation. The ABSU is in favour of the UPPL as the latter was founded by uniting the BPPF and UDPF with the support of the ABSU in 2015. The UPPL will work for speedy development of the region, he said.

He criticised the BPF for its anti-BTR stand. The statements made by BPF supremo Hagrama Mohilary in election campaigns that the ABSU is UPPL and UPPL is ABSU is totally baseless, Boro said. He said ABSU is a non-political, student and independent social organisation with its own constitution. It is clearly written in its constitution that the ABSU can tackle and settle political issues if and when the existence of the Bodo people is threatened, though it is a non-political organisation.
