ABSU annual conference at Dhemaji from today

KOKRAJHAR, March 28 � Sanjari Nwgwr, Simen Chapori in Dhemaji district is all set to host the 44th annual conference of All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) beginning from tomorrow with a three-day programme.

The inauguration of main gate by Arpon Kumar Saikia, SDO, (Civil) Jonai around 9 am tomorrow will mark the beginning of the programme. Surendra Kumar Boro, president, Jonai district Bodo Sahitya Sabha (BSS) will inaugurate Lt. Alicharan Goyary memorial main pandal at 9.30 am. The first delegate meeting will be held at 5 pm while the central working committee meeting will be held at 2 pm. Ansula Gwra Bodosa will inaugurate the session, while the cultural night will be inaugurated by Basanta Goyary at 6 pm. MS Manivannan, Deputy Commissioner, Dhemaji will release the souvenir Sanjari Nwgwr at 11 am.

On the second day, the programme will start with the hoisting of the ABSU flag at 7 am by Promod Boro, president of ABSU. At 8 am homage�s will be paid to the martyrs. This will be initiated by ABSU adviser Khungkhra Swargiary.

Discussion on the problems of the Bodos living outside the BTAD areas will be chaired by Rwn Gwra Narzary, adviser ABSU. The second days programme includes delegates session at 6 pm, literary competition, volley ball and kabbadi competition, illumination of candles in memory of the Bodo national martyrs.

The concluding days programme includes observance of �Students Day� the birthday of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma. Pradip Dutta Ray, former president, Cachar-Karimganj Students Union will be the special guest on the occasion. The open session on the occasion has been planned at 12 noon. Subir Bhowmik, editor Seven Sisters� Post will attend the programme as chief guest, Raj Puskar, general secretary, PUCL, India will attend the programme as special guest. Brajendra Kumar Brahma, Tagore literary awardee and former president of BSS, will inaugurate it.
