Abducted boy�s body found, curfew clamped

GUWAHATI/JALAH, July 12 � The body of one of the four persons abducted by suspected NDFB(S) militants in Baksa district last night, has been recovered in Barpeta district, while the other three still remain traceless.

The body, which was recovered at a place under Sorbhog Police Station, was identified as that of Bakar Ali (14) of village Bogoriguri.

The four persons, including two minors, were abducted by suspected militants last night, resulting in a serious uproar in the BTAD. Curfew was also imposed in the district following the incident.

The cycles and slippers of the abducted persons were recovered, police said.

Inspector General of Police (BTAD) LR Bishnoi while confirming recovery of Bakar�s body, said that search operation is on to trace the abducted persons. Police have so far picked up three suspects in this connection, said Bishnoi.

Baksa Deputy Commissioner Vinod Seshan informed that a joint search operation has been launched to trace the remaining three abducted persons � Saddam Ali, Ataur Rahman and Rahul Amin.

Top police and civil administration officials of BTAD sat for a meeting where the current law-and-order situation was discussed.

Meanwhile, hours after the abduction episode, Baksa Superintendent of Police NV Chandrakant has been replaced by Mojibur Rahman. A number of other changes were also effected in the police ranks in the BTAD.

A notification pronouncing transfer of Dhananjay Parusram Ghanawat, SDPO, Sadiya as the new Additional SP of Udalguri was also released by the home department. Incumbent Udalguri ASP Singha Ram Milli has been transferred as ASP Baksa.
