GUWAHATI, Dec 2 - Members of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) today took out a cycle rally here as part of its series of protests against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. AASU and its 30 allied organisations are protesting throughout the State against the proposed legislation terming it disastrous for the indigenous population.

From tomorrow onwards, a three-day protest will be launched by the student body and indigenous organisations all over the State.

During todays cycle rally, the protesters warned the Union government that the people of Assam would never accept the CAB which threatens to alter the population pattern in the State making the Assamese minorities in their own land.

Members of AASUs local wings All Guwahati Students Union and All Kamrup Students Union took part in the rally.

The student body also criticised the BJP-led Union and State governments for protecting the illegal Bangladeshi migrants. The adamant attitude of the government regarding bringing Cab in the Parliament, ignoring the ongoing protests and the opinion of the people of Assam, is strongly condemnable, said student leaders Tapan Kalita and Simanta Thakuria.

All Kamrup Students Union leader Kush Rongpi stated that apart from being unconstitutional, this step of the government would also pose a threat to the Assamese language and culture.
