AASU stir against SEBA chief suspended

GUWAHATI, July 10 � The meeting held between the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) and Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi at his official residence here concluded on a �positive� note this evening with the student body deciding to suspend their agitation following an assurance from the Chief Minister.

AASU adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya said Chief Minister Gogoi had assured that he would ask Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) Chairman Shantikam Hazarika to go on leave in the interest of an impartial inquiry into the affairs in SEBA.

�The Chief Minister also said that the inquiry committee comprising the vice chancellors of Dibrugarh University and Assam Agricultural University would be asked to submit the report as early as possible,� the AASU adviser added.
