TINSUKIA, May 10 - Tinsukia district unit of All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today staged rail blockade at Tinsukia demanding public hearing of Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Citizenship (Amendment) Bill , 2016 in Tinsukia district. The student body also demanded that the Bill should be withdrawn because it would hamper the ongoing updating process of the NRC in the state. The organisation said that the JPC has organised only one-day hearing in the Brahmaputra valley. �It is a conspiracy of the JPC against the indigenous people of the state,� the student body said. The leaders also appealed to the people to oppose the Bill as it would affect the greater Assamese society.
