AASU slams Govt on drug abuse in State

GUWAHATI, May 13 - Raising serious concern at the drug menace in the State, the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today blamed the State Government and its machinery for uncontrolled drug peddling and substance abuse across the State.

The students� body today organised motorbike processions across the State, in protest against drug peddling and to raise awareness among the youngsters.

The AASU also demanded strictest punishment for those involved in drugs smuggling and sale, spoiling the lives and future of the younger generation.

�The students and youth of Assam must be saved from this menace. Proper monitoring of schools and educational institutions is required so that these places do not become the hub of substance abuse,� said an AASU statement.
