AASU reiterates demand for SEBA revamp

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Dec 6 The All Assam Students Union (AASU) today flayed the State Government for failing to allay the apprehensions gripping the candidates of the HSLC and High School Madrassa examinations.

The students union also reiterated its demand for revamping of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) over the issue.

The AASU alleged that the indifferent attitude of the Government and the improper functioning of SEBA cannot be excused and nobody will be allowed to play with the future of the students preparing for the ensuing examinations.

The students body alleged that although the Government had announced that admit cards for the HSLC and High Madrassa examination will be issued before three months of the examination, it has failed to live up to its assurance.

Besides, the tug-of-war between the chairman and the secretary of the SEBA had added fuel to the fire. If they cannot serve the purpose, let there be a complete overhaul of the system roping in tall academic figures, Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya, advisor, AASU told media persons today.

Dr Bhattacharya, said, Year after year we have been witnessing irregularities in the system and this year too, the story remains the same. The Chief Minister and the Education Minister instead of making tall claims should focus on improving the system.

The AASU also vouched for fool-proof arrangements in regard to printing of issuance of question papers and their evaluation.

If nothing is done at the earliest we will resort to agitation in a big way, Dr Bhattacharya warned.
