AASU plea to SAKP on NRC update

GUWAHATI, Nov 23 - The All Assam Students� Union has extended its full support to the Sadou Assam Karmachari Parishad�s movement for getting their dues from the State Government.

In a joint meeting held today, the students� body appealed to the SAKP and all its members to engage themselves totally in the ongoing process of NRC update and document verification.

In a statement, the students� body said that the NRC update process has reached a crucial stage from where the illegal migrants could be identified and interest of the indigenous people could be protected. �The Government employees engaged in the work have a major role to play in minutely examining the documents so that not a single foreigner gets enlisted in the new NRC,� said the statement.

The AASU also reiterated its demand for constitutional safeguard to the indigenous people of the State.
