AASU, KMSS take out anti-CAB rallies at Nagaon

NAGAON, Dec 3 - On the appeal of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) and 30 other ethnic and indigenous tribal students� organisations, the Nagaon anchalik unit took out a massive bike rally throughout Nagaon town today and demanded the unconditional withdrawal of the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016.

Several hundred students from various educational institutions as well as the student bodies on two wheelers took part in the stir and the whole town reverberated with slogans against the government�s bid to pass the proposed bill.

During the stir, the students� body severely criticised Prime Minister Modi, Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, the AGP leadership, former student leaders and current state ministers like Atul Bora, Keshab Mahanta and also shouted slogans against all of them. The agitators warned that they would not let the bill be accepted at any cost.

Gaurishankar Saikia, president of AASU, district committee, Amarjyoti Phukon, secretary, district committee, Simanta Bora, president, Nagaon subdivision unit, Rinku Bora, assistant secretary, central committee, All Assam Tai Ahom Students� Union, Rubul Kakoti, president of Anchalik Chatra Sanstha, Gautom Bora, secretary, Anchalik Chatra Sanstha, were among those who took part in the agitation.

Meanwhile, opposing the CAB 2016, the district unit of the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti also took out a large torch rally through Nagaon town and shouted various slogans against the government�s bid to table the proposed bill in the floor. Hundreds of workers as well as supporters holding up lighted torches started the rally from Nagaon Nehrubali field and passed through various important locations of the town.
