DIBRUGARH, July 14 � The district unit of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) on Saturday formed a human chain comprisng about 500 students on NH-37 near Dibrugarh University, demanding immediate starting of the four-laning of the proposed highways in Assam. This event was part of the State-wide demonstration called by the central body of the AASU.
The students stood aside the NH-37 for about two hours in human chain formation, urging the Centre to cause no delay in executing the proposed four laning from different points of the National Highway in Assam. AASU executive member, Lurinjyoti Gogoi said that work on the stretch from Nagaon to Ledo must start soon to boost economy in the region.
At Tinsukia : As per the decision of the central committee of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU), students from different educational institutes of Tinsukia under the banner of Tinsukia District Students� Union (TDSU) formed a human chain on the NH 37 from Old Railway station to Siding Chariali here for one-hour on Saturday demanding early completion of the four-lane Highway in the State.
