AASU appeal to light lamps on Oct 30

GUWAHATI, Oct 28 � The All Assam Students' Union (AASU) today made an appeal to its members to light lamps and shout slogans denouncing terrorism on October 30. It needs mention here that on October 30, 2008, terrorists triggered bomb blasts in Guwahati, Kokrajhar, Barpeta Road and Bongaigaon.

The members of the AASU would shout slogans against terrorism that day and light lamps praying for the eternal peace of those killed in the incidents, said the AASU in a statement here. It has asked its members to take the help of the people in organizing such functions.

Describing October 30, 2008 as the black day in Assam's history, the AASU said that many people were killed and many others were maimed in those macabre incidents. People of Assam cannot forget these incidents, it said.
