AASU, AJYCP activists burn effigies, show black flags

NAGAON, Feb 9 - Amidst the ongoing trip of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the State and other parts of the North East region, the district units of All Assam Students� Union (AASU) and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) on Saturday opposing the CAB, burnt the effigies of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal near Nowgong College and Dimaruguri Tiniali in Nagaon town and also waved black flags.

Hundreds of members of the student organisations shouted slogans against Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal for their fatal initiative to amend the bill, on the old NH-37 road near Nowgong College and burnt their effigies. Simultaneously, the activists of AJYCP�s district body also in protest of the proposed amendment of the citizenship bill, burnt the effigies of the Chief Minister and Prime Minister Modi at Dimaruguri Tiniali. The activists, waving black flags, criticised the BJP-led alliance governments at the Centre as well as in the State for their �fatal� design against the indigenous Assamese people.
