AASU against move to make Assamese language irrelevant in KVs

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, May 2 - The All Assam Students Union (AASU) has vehemently opposed the conspiracy hatched by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan to make the Assamese language irrelevant in the Kendriya Vidyalayas located in Assam.

It has objected to the move of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) to hold classes on the Assamese language after the working hours in the schools.

The KVS is functioning under the Union HRD Ministry. The students body in a statement here this evening sternly warned the Union government and the KV organisation against such diabolic designs.

It has also alleged that the State government is maintaining a mysterious silence over the issue.

It has demanded immediate steps to introduce Assamese as a subject in the KVs and to keep the status of mother tongue intact in these institutions.
