ITANAGAR, May 4 - All Arunachal Pradesh Students Union (AAPSU) has demanded a CBI probe into last Mondays shooting incident at Tawang, in which two persons lost their lives and several others sustained serious bullet injuries.
AAPSU president Kamta Lapung while addressing a press conference here yesterday said, ordering of a mere judicial inquiry by the State Government into the killing of two innocent persons was not sufficient foretelling that it could not deliver justice to the victims families and that the Union demanded for an impartial investigation by the CBI.
Questioning the role of Tawang DC, SP and magistrate on duty to give such an extreme order without the knowledge and instructions of State Government, he said the government should take the responsibility for Mondays mayhem and immediately recommend for a CBI probe to unearth the truth behind the whole episode.
The AAPSU further demanded the government to immediately suspend Tawang DC, Magistrate on duty, SP and Officer-in-Charge of Tawang police station for a free and impartial inquiry.
The Arunachal Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), while condemning the unfortunate incident, also sought for an enquiry either by a retired Judge of High Court or the CBI.
Sensing a foul play in the entire episode, the APCC said the party wanted the concerned authorities to reveal the truth so that guilty are booked and punished as per the rule of law.
