Nearly 100 members of AAP, Assam gathered near the Hanuman Mandir at Ganeshguri at 10:30 am and started shouting anti-government slogans carrying leaflets and banners. The protesters slammed the BJP-led government for failing to control prices of several essential items of daily use. The present government had come to power promising the people of the State to take steps regarding price rise of essential items. But the earlier government and the present government as well failed totally to keep their promises, a protesting member said. We demand immediate measures to control the steep price rise of essential items of daily use. The AAP protesters also criticised the Supply Minister for his inability to take effective measures in this regard.

Onions are being sold at Rs 80-85 a kilo and potatoes at Rs 50 a kilo in the retail markets and the soaring prices have totally affected the household budget. The common people are bearing the burden of the price rise, another member said.

They threatened to intensify their agitation if the government does not take any step to control price rise within November 5.
