TEZPUR/DIBRUGARH, March 22 � The nomination papers of two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidates Dwipen Saikia and Tapan Sutbanshi were rejected in the State as those were found to be incomplete.
The nomination of AAP-projected candidate for the Tezpur HPC, Dwipen Saikia, has been rejected as, according to official sources, the candidate submitted an incomplete nomination paper. Now there are 10 candidates in the fray for the Tezpur seat. The last date of withdrawal of nomination papers is March 24, the sources pointed out.
Meanwhile, the Returning Officer for the polls here, Lalit Gogoi, told this correspondent over the phone that as per the directives of the Election Commission India, two election observers have already reached Tezpur, who are camping at the Circuit House. �One can directly contact the two election officers � Rakesh Kumar Verma and GM Kamei � for any election-related matter,� the Returning Officer said, adding that along with other poll-related activities, a massive election awareness campaign is on so that each of the voters considers voting as a national responsibility. �As part of the campaign, announcements are being made at public places and leaflets are being distributed in every area under the Lok Sabha segment,� he added.
Dibrugarh Bureau adds: The nomination papers of the AAP candidate for the Dibrugarh Lok Sabha seat, Tapan Sutbanshi were found deficient and, therefore, rejected. This was stated in an official press note released here on Saturday. The seven other nomination papers for the constituency were found valid.
