Aali-Aai-Ligang celebrated at Tinsukia

TINSUKIA, Feb 16 � The pre-paddy sowing festival, popularly known as Aali-Aai-Ligang was celebrated by Mising community people at various places in Tinsukia district with religious fervour with a day-long programme.

The celebration began with the prayer to the Almighty for good harvesting in the coming days. Thereafter flag hoisting, religious rites, competitions of various cultural programmes and open meeting was held. A prize distribution function was also held on the occasion.

The most attraction of the festival was the traditional dances of Missing community in additions to the community feasts of traditional eateries. In Tinsukia town at the Morong Ghor situated at Bordoloi Nagar and Missing Gaon at Bojaltoli, the people celebrated Aali-Aai-Ligang in gaiety. At Bojaltoli Missing gaon the flag was unfurled by the president of the organising committee, Dilip Ngatey and Lri Gaang lrigg Ggodd (sowing seeds) was conducted by Satish Doley followed by Gumraag dance and competitions, open session etc.
