AAI extends financial aid to Cachar Cancer Hospital

SILCHAR, March 18 - In a bid to extend help towards a social cause, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has reached out to the Cachar Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (CCHRC) at Silchar with a financial aid of Rs 75.05 lakh for aiding upgradation of the necessary surgical and pathological equipment.

In a brief function held at the hospital premises recently, Dharmendra Kumar Kamra, Regional Executive Director of AAI�s North East region inaugurated a separate block where the procured machines are kept along with Udharbond MLA Mihir Kanti Shome, Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan, Dr KP Chakraborty, chairperson of Cachar Cancer Hospital, Dr Ravi Kannan, director of the hospital and noted orthopaedic surgeon Dr Rajdeep Roy.

�As a part of corporate social responsibility, the AAI has made a humble effort to allocate Rs 76.05 lakh for upgradation of the Department of Pathology and Surgical Oncology. We believe that the new equipments shall help a great deal in serving the patients at the hospital in an efficient manner,� Kamra said.

Dr Ravi Kannan said that the hospital was in dire need of machines like Automatic Tissue Processor, Cryostat, Automatic Slide Strainer, -86�C Deep Freezers and Anaesthesia Work Station with ETCO2 5 Pera Monitors which has been procured with aid from the AAI.

We are happy that we can process the test reports of the patients within a short period which was a growing concern so far. Also, other tests will be facilitated with the latest equipment at our disposal, he added.

Cachar Deputy Commissioner Dr S Laxmanan termed this a significant gesture from the AAI, which he felt will add a fillip to the hospital.
