With the COVID-19 vaccine roll-out gaining momentum, and cinema halls finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel, it is time to preview some of the most anticipated theatrical releases of 2021 that could spice up the year for movie buffs.

Among the first to get released on the big screen after a hiatus of nearly a year could be the Akshay Kumar-starrer, Bell Bottom. The spy thriller is expected to hit the silver screen in April this year. Alongside Akshay, the movie will feature Vaani Kapoor, Lara Dutta, and Huma Qureshi.

Another project slated for a grand release in the first quarter of the calendar year is Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone-starrer 83 which is based on the Indian cricket team’s historic World Cup victory in 1983. Next in line could be the John Abraham-starrer Satyameva Jayate 2, tentatively scheduled to get released on Eid, i.e., in May. Directed by Milan Zaweri, this would be the second instalment of the franchise which will also feature Manoj Bajpaye and Divya Khosla Kumar.

Gangubai Kathiawari is another mouthwatering proposition that would feature Alia Bhatt in the titular character. Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the movie is tentatively scheduled to hit the silver screen by the end of the year. Titled RRR, SS Rajamouli’s period drama will be another big budget movie to watch out for in 2021. With a budget of nearly Rs 400 crores, RRR,which stars Ram Charan, NT Rama Rao Jr, Ajay Devgn, and Alia Bhatt, is expected to release in October.

Come Christmas, Aamir Khan will be back on the big screen with Lal Singh Chaddha. Originally slated for a grand release last year, the movie will finally be released this year. Another highly anticipated movie that could see the light of day this year is the Amitabh Bachchan and Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Brahmastra. Salman Khan’s Radhe, too, is set for a theatrical release on the eve of Eid.
