96 injured in Puri Express derailment

GUWAHATI, July 11 � State Forest Minister Rockybul Hussain told the Assembly today that a total of 96 persons were injured in last night�s derailment of the Puri Express triggered by an IED. He said that investigation into the blast was on and some electric wires were recovered from the site.

The minister maintained that there was no negligence on the part of the administration and the police in reaching the spot following the blast and derailment.

Meanwhile, of the 21 injured admitted to the Guwahati Medical College Hospital (GMCH), 18 have been discharged.

GMCH Superintendent Dr Ramen Talukdar said that 10 persons were admitted last night of which seven have been discharged, while another 11 persons were admitted today and all discharged later.

Mayarani Dutta Choudhury and Krishna Dutta Choudhury are the two injured currently staying at the hospital. Their condition, however, is not serious.

Re-examination results today

Guwahati, July 11 � The results of the candidates, who applied for re-checking of their Higher Secondary Final Examination, 2011, answer scripts in Arts, Science, Commerce and vocational streams will be declared tomorrow, an official release said.

Result sheets are being sent to all the district headquarters and institutions will have to collect these from the main institution located in their respective headquarters.

Examination centres located in the district of Kamrup will have to collect the result sheets from the office of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, the release added.
