9 killed in road mishaps in State

DOOMDOOMA, March 6 � Five members of a family were killed in a road mishap at 4pm today on NH-52 at No. 1 Chelenguri under Kakopothar Police Station. Among the five killed, three are minors.

According to information, a high speed truck (No - NL-04 1356) collided head-on with the Maruti 800 in which the deceased persons were travelling.

Rajendra Gohain of Dighalsakon Borgaon under Makum Police Station, his wife Bidyawati Gohain and their three children were returning from Rajendra�s father-in-law�s house of Kulipathar village under Kakopothar Police Station when the accident took place.

Gohain was driving the car which was hit by the truck on the wrong side. The names of the three children were not available till filing of this report. The driver of the truck is absconding.

Our Howraghat Correspondent adds: In a tragic road accident four persons were killed when a Tatamobile turned turtle on NH-36 at Sikarighat near Bakaliaghat Police Station around 10:45 am today. Eight others were injured in the mishap.

Those killed were identified as Kiran Nayak (18), Bijay Sadnami (35), Dhansing Gor (35) and Ranjan Namoshudra.
