DERGAON, April 3 - Preparation are on for the 87th annual session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha (SSS) to be held at Dergaon under the aegis of Golaghat district committee from February 7 to 10, 2018. For organising the event smoothly, a reception committee has been formed at a public meeting held at Dergaon Marwary Dharamsala on Saturday.
The meeting chaired by the padadhikar of SSS Bhabendra Nath Deka was moderated by the assistant secretary of SSS Pankaj Dutta and Devanjan Bora while the secretary of Golaghat district committee of SSS Pradip Dutta explained the objective of the meeting.
Inaugurating the meeting, the general secretary of SSS, Prafulla Ch Bora urged the gathering to make the event a success. Bora also revealed that in the next session, a large number of devotees representing 52 districts will take part. It is pertinent to mention that the session will be held at Raibahadur Gopika Ballav Kshetra at Dadhara field in Missamara mouza under Dergaon PS.
Addressing the meeting the Khumtai MLA Mrinal Saikia said that he will extend the possible help towards organising the event. He further revealed that he had already submitted the proposals of various developmental works in the area.
The meeting was also addressed by Agriculture minister Atul Bora, Dergaon MLA Bhabendra Nath Bharali, former MLA of Khumtai, Bismita Gogoi.
After a threadbare discussion, the meeting formed a reception committee with Pabitra Pran Bora as the president, Mrinal Saikia as the executive president, Devanjan Bora as the general secretary and Ranjit Bora, Barun Bivor Saikia as the joint secretaries. The reception committee has urged all to extend cooperation for the event.
