AGARTALA, Dec 6 - A record number of applications for inclusion of names in the photo electoral rolls have been submitted before the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) in Tripura so far, according to official sources.
Approximately, 80,000 form-6 for inclusion of names have been received during the summary revision of the electoral rolls while 25,000 form-7 for deletion of name have been placed for disposal, said Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Sriram Tarikanti at a press conference here on Wednesday.
�Around 1,20,000 applications (both form-6/7) have been received by the State Election machinery for deletion, inclusion and correction of names so far. All the EROs and AEROs were asked to conduct hearing of each forms and take the decision as per prescribed guidelines�, he said.
As per the Election Commission�s instruction, the State Election machinery will ensure no valid voters is left out of the photo electoral rolls, the CEO said adding that continuous updation of electoral rolls will be continued even after final publication of voters� list for all the 60 Assembly segments.
The final voters� list is scheduled to be published on January 5 next. However, eligible voters will get ample chance to get enrolled in the rolls well before the polls
Earlier, 28,000 names of dead, ghost and false voters were deleted from the photo electoral rolls following complaints from various political parties as well as individuals.
