GUWAHATI, Feb 27 - In view of the ongoing massive anti-encroachment drive being conducted on the National Highway 37 along Guwahati, the Kamrup Metro district administration has directed all owners, proprietors and authorised dealers of vehicle showrooms and godowns to remove any such vehicles placed on the highway within three days.
�There are several showrooms and godowns running all along NH-37 which usually park vehicles like trucks and cars on both sides of the highway causing inconvenience to the commuters as well as to traffic movement. Moreover, the service lanes of the highway are also blocked due to illegal parking of heavy vehicles,� Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner Dr M Angamuthu told this newspaper today.
He added, �The district administration is conducting a massive eviction drive to remove all unauthorised structures, shops, street vendors, illegal parking of vehicles, etc., which are illegally encroaching on both sides as well as on the service lanes of NH-37 from Jorabat to LGBI Airport.�
The DC said that the administration has directed �all the owners, proprietors and authorised dealers of such showrooms and godowns to remove the vehicles placed on the highway within three days.�
He added, �The district administration will not be responsible for any damage cause to their property during eviction after completion of the stipulated time and period given.�
Meanwhile, today, on the third day of the eviction drive, the administration removed over 800 structures of various sizes and nature including permanent, semi permanent and temporary all along the NH-37 from Jalukbari to Khanapara.
