DOOMDOOMA, Dec 22 - Eight shops were gutted in a devastating fire at the Shantipur daily market, Sadiya at around 5.30 pm on Saturday. Fire tenders from Sadiya and Roing of Arunachal Pradesh managed to extinguish the fire at around 8 pm.

Locals of the area alleged that the State Fire Service Station of Sadiya does not have sufficient equipment to deal with the situation. In protest against the incident, the locals gheraoed the State Fire Service Station on Sunday and even blocked the NH-37 at Shantipur.
