8 parties protest Centre�s notification

GUWAHATI, Oct 12 - Members of eight political parties of the State today demonstrated on the bank of the Dighalipukhuri in protest against the Centre�s notification to grant entry and staying rights to the non-Muslim people who had migrated to the State till December 31, 2015. They demanded immediate revocation of the said notification.

According to an AGP press release this evening, the parties which took part in the demonstration included AGP, CPI, AIUDF, CPI-M, NCP, Gana Mukti Sangram, Assam, Liberal Democratic Party and Samajwadi Party.

The demonstrators shouted slogans against the BJP and the Congress. They also condemned the silence observed by the parliamentarians of the Congress and BJP, who got themselves elected from the State, on the issues concerning Assam�s interests, the release added.
