8 Bangla trans-border kidnappers arrested

SHILLONG, Jan 9 � The Border Security Force (BSF) have arrested eight Bangladeshi trans-border kidnappers after an 18-hour manhunt at the international border with Bangladesh in Gasuapara, South Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

Acting on a tip off, the operation to nab the Bangladeshis involved about 100 BSF troopers who searched the area and finally were able to nab the miscreants who are said to be kidnappers and are involved in trans-border kidnapping.

During the search, one 7.65 mm pistol with magazine, machetes and two mobile phones were recovered from their possession.

Moreover, BSF troops also apprehended two Indian and five Bangladeshi nationals and seized timber, 529 bottles of liquor, nine boats, 50 bottles of Phensedyle, 31 cattle heads and other contraband items worth over Rs 18 lakh, which were being smuggled out from India.

Meanwhile, Meghalaya police has arrested one Abul Hussain, from Nongrah in the State capital and recovered 24 mobile tower batteries from his possession after an FIR was filed regarding the theft of the batteries. The police are on the lookout for the other members of Hussain�s gang.
