788th Om-Pha celebrations on February 6-7

SONARI, Feb 3 � The 788th Om-Pha inauguration ceremony will be held at Charaideo maidam area on February 6 and 7. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will be the chief guest of the open session on February 7. Manoranjan Gogoi, president of �2015-16� Om-Pha celebration committee� will preside over the open session which will be inaugurated by Dr Birendra Kumar Gohain, retired Commissioner, Govt of Assam. Dr Alak Kumar Buragohain, Vice-Chancellor, Dibrugarh University will release the souvenir. Virendra Kr Mittal, Deputy Commissioner, Sivasagar and Bimal Kumar Baruah, Director, ONGCL, Assam Asset, Nazira will be the guests of honour. The cultural function will be inaugurated by Satyen Gogoi, DIG, Upper Assam Range, Assam Police.

On February 6, a seminar on �Importance of the ideals of Chao-Lung Sukapha and it�s relevancy in the present period� will be held.

Dr Sarat Phukon, a renowned historian will inaugurate the seminar which will be conducted by Golap Borgohain, retired principal, Sonari College. Mayur Bora, columnist, Jatin Chutia, Vice-Principal, Moran College, Sushil Suri, lecturer, Sonari College, Monirul Islam Bora, journalist, Raghunath Kagyung, lecturer, Sonari College, Ashwini Chetia, advisor, ATASU will participate in the seminar.

A celebration committee was formed with Dambaru Rajkowar as president, Juva Baruah, Durga Gogoi and Ranjit Buragohain as executive presidents and Ruhini Mohan as general secretary.
