75 student participants from Kamrup Metro

GUWAHATI, Oct 6 - Altogether 75 students from various schools of Kamrup Metro district are participating in the Gyanjyoti scheme event, which started in Jorhat today.

The participants from Kamrup Metro were sent off this morning from the Guwahati Circuit House, stated an official release.

The 75 students from classes VIII, IX and X of Kamrup Metro will be joined by students from Dima Hasao, Karbi Anglong, Morigaon, Nagaon, Sonitpur, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Tinsukia, Dibrugarh, Sivasagar, Golaghat and Kamrup districts, who are also participating in the event.

Additional Deputy Commissioner F Ahmed flagged off the student participants from the district, who are being accompanied by four teachers, doctors and other officials. The students left from the city in three ASTC buses.

The Gyanjyoti event in Jorhat will conclude on October 8. Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi will participate in the concluding ceremony.

During the three-day event, various programmes like quiz competition, drama and song contest will be held.

In his speech before the flagging-off ceremony, Ahmed called upon the students to bring glory to the district and also use the opportunity of being selected for the Gyanjyoti event to exchange ideas and opinions with students from other districts.
