NAGAON, Jan 2 � Altogether seven persons including a woman were killed in a road mishap at Kachari Gaon under Samaguri Police Station around 12 noon today. The accident occurred when a Jakhalabandha-bound Tata Magic (AS-02-E-2452 ) had a head-on collision with a loaded truck (NL-01-D-6855) going towards Nagaon.
Four persons including a woman died on the spot while three others succumbed to their injuries at BP Civil Hospital. The Tata Magic driver Narayan Sharma is also among the casualties. Eight injured persons have been admitted to the hospital and the condition of some of them is stated to be critical.
It is reported that the truck driver, who was in an inebriated state, was beaten up by the public and was later handed over to police.
A group of foreign tourists coming from Kaziranga, which arrived at the accident spot, offered first-aid before the 108 ambulance reached the spot.
