IMPHAL, Jan 10 � Seven persons including a woman sustained injuries in a bomb explosion here this evening.
The incident took place near the gate of Trinamool Congress candidate Khumukcham Joykishan at Khoyathong Pukhri Achouba Mapal under Imphal police station around 5.15 pm today, police sources said.
Police suspect that the bomb might have been planted earlier. A senior police officer said that splinters of a low intensity bomb has been recovered. The Additional DGP V Zathang, visited the blast site. He reportedly appealed the public not to venture in the night unnecessarily. The injured persons have been admitted to a nearby hospital.
Meanwhile, there are reports of lobbing of hand grenades at Congress workers and government officials by suspected militants at various places in Imphal.
One grenade exploded at the residence of a Congress worker Th Sanayaima at Heinoubok village last night. Another bomb was lobbed at the residence of CPI worker Th Nabakumar at Lamlai.
