63rd I-D TT meet gets off

GUWAHATI, Oct 28 - The 63rd Donic Sitaram Agarwala Inter District and State Table Tennis Championship began at the Desbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan Indoor Stadium in the RG Baruah Sports Complex here today. Altogether 13 districts are taking part in the championship which include Guwahati, OIL, Duliajan, Dibrugarh, Namrup, Sivasagar, Jorhat, Golaghat, Mangaldai, Nagaon, Silchar, Nazira, NF Railway TT Academy. Competitions will be conducted in 10 categories from cadet to senior.

Assam Chief Secretary Vinod Kumar Pipersenia inaugurated the championship in the opening ceremony. Samir Kumar Das, DGM, OIL, Ranuj Borkotoky, Joint Director Sports and Youth Welfare, Pradip Hazarika, Deputy Director Sports and Youth Welfare were also present on the occasion as guests.

After a gruelling contest in three days top teams will vie for the titles on October 31.

The championship has been organised by the Assam Table Tennis Association.
