By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 25 - Chirang Police arrested six more hardcore members of a Muslim fundamentalist group in the last 24 hours taking the number of arrest of jehadi elements to 10 in the last one week in the district.

Investigators have also stumbled upon links establishing their affiliation with the Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen, Bangladesh (JMB) and some other external forces.

While the first two arrests Suleman Ali and Mafizul Islam were made in Goalpara on Thursday, four others Noor Mohamad, Malek Sheikh, Mostafa Mandal and Hafizur Ali were picked up in the follow-up actions led by a team led by Chirang SP Ranjan Bhuyan.

Top police sources said Suleman is one of the top organisers of the jehadi training module and also supplied arms for the training of the jehadi cadres in the camp, which was busted last week by the Chirang Police.

Police also recovered a country-made arms and two AK 47 rifle from their possession, IGP (BTAD) LR Bishnoi said.

Sources further added that some more important leaders who are on the run will soon fall in the trap.
