GUWAHATI, Aug 21 � Senior pro-talk ULFA leader Hira Sarania, who was arrested on Monday, was produced before the Court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Kamrup today where he was remanded to six days� police custody.
Police had sought seven days custody of the ULFA leader for a thorough investigation and for the recovery of the looted amount and the bodies.
Sarania has been booked under Section 396 of the IPC which relates to dacoity and murder.
The other three accused arrested in this connection had been already sent to judicial custody.
Sarania was arrested on charges of carrying out dacoity in the house of a city-based businessman Rajen Lohia and apparently killed two of his employees. Of the two employees, Binit Jain, according to police, had connived with the ULFA leader to carry out the dacoity.
Meanwhile, police last night carried out search in the house of Sarania and recovered an AK 56 rifle from his house along with several rounds of ammunitions.
Police has also initiated search operation to trace the bodies.
Our Nalbari Correspondent adds: The pro-talk ULFA leadership has taken the Hira Sarania issue very seriously. In a statement issued by the outfit publicity secretary Mithinga Daimary said that they will conduct an inquiry into the alleged charges level against Sarania and will take appropiate step.
