6 arrested over firing incident

JALUKBARI, Jan 10 - Jalukbari Police have arrested six persons including two women during the past 24 hours in connection with a firing incident near Jalukbari last month.

The accused have been identified as Kuhilata Patgiri (32), Sailendra Singha (34), Balen Baishya (27), Jonali Rabha (32), Piyush Das (32) and Julfikar Ali alias Jama. They were picked up from different locations.

Following confession by Jonali Rabha, police recovered a 9 mm pistol along with four cartridges. They also recovered a Bajaj Pulsar bike from Sailendra Singha which was used in committing the crime. A homemade pistol along with three rounds of ammunition was recovered from Kuhilata Patgiri.

A case has been registered at the Jalukbari Police Outpost under Section 397 IPC, R/W 25(1) A 27 Arms act. Julfikar Ali, the mastermind behind the crime, was today sent to three days� police custody, while the rest were sent to jail.
