GUWAHATI, March 10 � The State government today said that altogether 7,371 lower primary (LP) schools, 4,732 upper primary (UP) schools, 1,474 high schools/high madrassas, 68 HS Schools, 12 junior colleges and 134 colleges have been found eligible for provincialisation.
In a written reply to a question by AGP MLA Phani Bhushan Choudhury in the Legislative Assembly, Education Minister Sarat Barkataki said that so far 5,049 LP schools and 1,753 UP schools have been provincialised.
With regard to the number of posts provincialised, the Minister said that altogether 10,318 posts of teaching and non-teaching staff in LP schools, 11,639 in UP schools, 14,704 in high schools/high madrassas, 626 in HS schools and 179 in junior colleges have been brought under the ambit of provincialisation.
In addition, 2,780 teaching and non-teaching staff of 134 colleges have also been brought under provincialisation.
Barkataki added that provincialisation of 2,311 LP schools and 2,979 UP schools remains to be completed.
