50 new cases in Mizoram

AIZAWL, Sept 29 - Fifty more people, including 25 security personnel, tested positive for COVID-19 in Mizoram during the last 24 hours, taking the State�s virus tally to 1,958.

Forty-two people were confirmed positive after testing 854 samples at the Zoram Medical College laboratory here, an official release stated. Also, out of 45 samples tested at the TrueNat laboratory of the Lunglei Civil Hospital, seven persons were found positive. Among 523 samples put to rapid antigen tests, one positive case was detected, the release added.

According to official sources, 14 personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), seven of the Border Security Force (BSF), three of the Assam Rifles and one of the Indian Air Force (IAF) are among the new patients.

Twenty-three of the 50 new patients contracted the virus from contact with positive persons, it said. The State now has 499 active cases, including 211 security personnel. As many as 1,459 people have been cured of the disease so far.

The recovery rate among the COVID-19 patients in the State stands at 74.52 per cent, the official release stated.
