BISWANATH CHARIALI, July 21 � Altogether five youths from Guwahati died on the spot when their white sedan plunged into a ditch at Barangabari under Gohpur police station at 12.30
last night.
The youths identified as Arpan Kalita, son of Dhireswar Kalita, Chandan Medhi, son of Ram Medhi and Dhiraj Barman, son of Uttam Barman (all from Janatanagar area), Dhrubajyoti Mazumdar, son of Mohendra Mohan Majumdar of Sankar Nagar and Biswajit Medhi, son of Harihara Medhi of Satgaon. They were all in their late twenties.
The locals, led by AASU activists, this morning blocked the highway (NH 52) for over an hour demanding measures by the authorities to stop further such mishaps at the spot, where similar mishap have taken place earlier too. The crowd dispersed only after the SDPO and SDO (C) pacified them with assurances.
