5 siblings hospitalised in Shillong

SHILLONG, July 6 � The Meghalaya Government today ordered an inquiry after five siblings from a family in the State Capital here were admitted to hospital on Sunday afternoon after consuming noodles.

According to the mother of the victims � Dilnaris Kharkongor (18), Balahunlang (13), Iaineh Skhem (11), Mebanshkem (8) and Mewanskhem (5) fell sick after consuming �Yummy� noodles.

Three of the siblings were admitted to the Ganesh Das Hospital. Two others were admitted to the Shillong Civil Hospital. The mother said, Yummy noodle was her kids� favourite snack, but on Sunday after they consumed it they fell sick.

Meanwhile, Health Minister AL Hek said a committee headed by additional chief secretary, Y Tsering, also the Commissioner of Food Safety, would be conducting an inquiry into the incident. �We would get to the bottom of the incident how the children fell sick and then take action,� Hek said.

The State Government has already banned Maggi for three months after Monosodium Glutamate was found in the tested samples. The State Government, moreover, has sent ten samples of food products, of different companies, for test outside the State.
