GUWAHATI / UDALGURI, Jan 5 � The recovery of five bodies at Majbat in Udalguri district has created shockwaves in the area. Police said this could a case of killing due to land dispute and ruled out the involvement of militants in it.
The Inspector General of Police, Law and Order, SN Singh, told The Assam Tribune that police had on Friday received information that four persons had gone missing in an area located about 15 km north-west of Majbat. Today, police found a freshly dug spot in the area and recovered four bodies from there.
The deceased have been identified as Sahan Gorh, Bila Gorh, Jiten Gorh, Bibari Gorh and Puren Narzary.
Police suspect the killing to be related to a land dispute as someone must be trying to grab the farm. There is no eyewitness to the incident and police is now trying to find out who was trying to grab the plot of land, Singh stated.
