49th session of Natya Sanmilon concludes

SIVASAGAR, Feb 14 � Curtains came down on the Parasuram Boruah Khetra of the 49th Session of Assam Natya Sanmilon on KPM Hall premises, Sivasagar, yesterday after five days of annual drama, mono acting and other competitions of dramatics with the prize distribution ceremony. The function, presided over by noted cine artist Abdul Majid, was inaugurated by Pronob Gogoi, Minister of Law, Sericulture, Handloom & Textile.

Padmashri Arun Sarma, noted playwright, attending the function as the Chief Guest, lauded the role of Asom Natya Sanmilon in inspiring young talents and providing the playwrights, writers and amateur artists a platform to carry on and demonstrate their skill and technique on stage in spite of adverse conditions.

The play Atura voila apar, presented by Bihaguri team was adjudged the best drama of the event while Kongsa of Dhakuakhana and Sangkosan of Barpeta begged the second and third prizes respectively, Kishor Nath, Hemanta Bhunya and Dibakar Pegu were adjudged best actors while Supriya Doley was given the best female actor award.

Sunadhar Khanikar (Kongsa) won the best director award while best child actor award went to Himangsu Nath. Masum Saikia won the best award in Mono-acting and in mime Syamol Deori of Naharkatia was adjudged best.

Late Chandradhar Samuwa was given the best dramatist award posthumously. Tinsukia district was given the best unit trophy. Earlier, the colourful procession was flagged off by AK Sing, SP Sivasagar.
