AIZAWL, Oct 29 - Mizoram�s virus count today rose to 2,656 as 49 people, including 20 school students, tested positive during the last 24 hours.
An official release said that 49 tested positive for the novel coronavirus after testing of 1,665 samples in different districts of the State.
The Aizawl district has the highest number of new cases at 43, followed by Lawngtlai (4) and one Serchhip and Lunglei (one each), the release added.
Only seven of the new patients, including an Army jawan, have travel history. The rest 42 have contracted the virus locally.
Mizoram now has 417 active COVID-19 cases, while 2,238 people have already recovered from the disease so far. It had remained the only State with zero fatality for months before reporting its first death case on Wednesday when a 62-year-old man, who had underlying health conditions, succumbed to the infection.
