TEZPUR, Jan 6 The 47th annual conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) that was scheduled to be held with a four-day programme from January 16 to 19 at Gwjwn Fwthar (Chardwar-Dofola Pothar) near Balipara here has been postponed following the recent NDFB(S) carnage.

While contacted, ABSU secretary Romeo P Narzary and general secretary of the reception committee Anthony Basumatary stated that though brisk preparation is on to celebrate the annual conference of the students body, the entire process has been interrupted due to the awkward situation following the recent NDFB(S) killings in the State.

The duo further informed that the previously decided four-day programme has been slashed to a three-day affair, and will now be held on February 6, 7 and 8 at the same venue. The organisers urged all concerned to extend their helping hand in order to make the event a success by reflecting the age-old communal harmony among the different castes and communities of the region.

Meanwhile, the 41st annual conference of the Tezpur District Bodo Sahitya Sabha which was scheduled to be held at Ghoramari near here with a two-day programme on January 10 and 11 has also been postponed for an indefinite period following the present situation following the recent NDFB(S) massacre. The reception committee vide a press note said that though the programme will now be held after January 26, the date is yet to be fixed.
