SHILLONG, Nov 19 � East Khasi Hills police here today picked up 46 boys and girls for indulging in binge drinking at the Ward�s Lake � a well-known tourist spot in the State capital.
The police after receiving a complaint about the boys and girls sent a police team and all were hauled in and taken for a medical test at the Shillong Civil Hospital. All the 46, mostly teens, from different schools and colleges, some in their uniform, were drinking in the public spot.
East Khasi Hills district police chief M Kharkrang said that the boys and girls were picked up as they were drinking openly at the Ward�s Lake. �Public drinking of alcohol is illegal, so they were picked up,� he said.
