ITANAGAR, June 22 - Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Dr) BD Mishra (retd) today gave away the 19th Rajya Puraskar of the Bharat Scouts and Guides (BSG) at a ceremony held at the Darbar Hall of the Raj Bhavan here.
A total of 42 Scouts and Guides from 11 districts of the State � Tirap, East Siang, Lower Dibang Valley, Namsai, Upper Subansiri, Lohit, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, West Siang, Upper Siang and Siang � received the highest BSG award at the State level from the Governor, who is a patron of the BSG in the State. Education Minister Honchun Ngandam and senior officers of the Education Department were also present in the function.
Congratulating the Scouts and Guides on winning the award, the Governor said the Rajya Puraskar recognises their hard work and dedication. He said that they are the assets of the State, and that they must continue to maintain discipline, and be honest and transparent in their approach.
Referring to the fundamental duties enshrined in the Indian Constitution, the Governor urged the students to develop scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform.
Education Minister Honchun Ngandam, Director of Secondary Education and BSG State Chief Commissioner Gania Leij and Deputy Director, Secondary Education, and State Secretary (BSG) S Ronrang also spoke on the occasion.
State Scouts organiser P Kalita presented a brief report on Scouting and Guiding moments in Arunachal Pradesh, while State Training Commissioner (Guides) Kempi Pakam briefed the Governor on the achievements of the BSG in the State.
The Scouts and Guides gave a first aid demonstration on the occasion. The First Lady of the State, Neelam Misra, Secretary of Education Madhu Rani Teotia, government officials, teachers, Scouts and Guides masters and trainers, rovers and rangers also attended the function.
